Coming Home to Yourself
A Four-Week Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation for Everyday LifeWhat if coming home is not a destination, but a practice?
Life has a way of carrying us away from ourselves. We become caught in the pace and pressures of daily life, pulled into stories about the past, worries about the future, and the many habits and patterns that shape how we experience the world.Mindfulness and meditation offer a practice of returning.Returning to the body.Returning to the breath.Returning to our feelings and inner experience.Returning to the mind with greater clarity.Returning, again and again, to the life that is actually here.Over four weeks, we’ll explore mindfulness through the classical foundations of body, feeling, mind, and the changing nature of experience, translated into simple, accessible practices for everyday life. The breath will serve as a thread throughout the course, a place to pause, reorient, and reconnect when we become distracted, overwhelmed, or carried away by the currents of life.
Our Four-Week JourneyWeek One: Coming Home to the Body
What are mindfulness and meditation, and why do we practice? We’ll begin with the body and breath as anchors for arriving in the present moment.Week Two: Coming Home to Our Feelings
Learning to recognize pleasant, unpleasant, and difficult experience with greater awareness, steadiness, and care.Week Three: Coming Home to the Mind
Exploring thoughts, mental habits, and conditioning, and learning how to relate to the mind without being carried away by every story it tells.Week Four: Coming Home to Life
Exploring change, impermanence, letting go, and how mindfulness can become a lived practice in our relationships, communities, joys, challenges, and ordinary moments.
A Practice for Everyday LifeThroughout the course, we’ll draw from the Buddhist foundations of mindfulness while keeping the teachings practical, welcoming, and accessible to people of all backgrounds and belief systems. Each gathering will include a short teaching, a guided meditation, reflection, community discussion, and simple practices to explore between sessions. We do not practice so that life stops changing. We practice so that, again and again, we can reorient, return, and meet our lives with greater presence, compassion, and wisdom.
